Chairman & Director
Mr. Pirooz studied commerce at Dalhousie University and received a law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1989. Mr. Pirooz practiced law in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia from May 1990 to February 1998 primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial and securities law. Mr. Pirooz served as General Counsel, Vice-President and Secretary of Pan American Silver Corp (TSX; NASDAQ) from April 1998 to October 2000 and from October 2000 to December 2002 was General Counsel and Vice President of the BCR Group of Companies. Mr. Pirooz is currently a lawyer and business consultant providing services to a variety of clients and serving a variety of posts within his clients' companies, including serving as General Counsel of Pan American Silver Corp (PAS) since Jan 2003. Mr. Pirooz is also on the Board of Directors for PAS.
President & CEO
Mr. Strang is a graduate of Stanford University, BSc, Applied Earth Sciences. Mr. Strang was previously CEO & President of Global Copper Corp (Sold to TeckCominco), Vice President, Corporate Development for Northern Peru Copper Corp (sold to China Minmetals/Jiangxi Copper), CEO & President of Lumina Resources Corp (Sold to Western Copper Corp) and President of Regalito Copper Corp (sold to Pan Pacific). Mr. Strang is a former Mining Industry expert with Corporate Value Consulting & was Acquisitions Manager - Base Metals, for Gold Fields of South Africa.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Rip is a Chartered Accountant with fourteen years experience in industry and public practice providing business advice to a variety of clients. He has previously been CFO of resource companies at both the exploration and operating stage. In public practice, Mr. Rip worked at Grant Thornton LLP where he served as a Senior Manager in the Assurance and Business Advisory practice, focusing on the needs of public company clients. Mr. Rip was formerly with Deloitte and Touche in the UK and holds a law degree from the University of Birmingham. Throughout his career, Mr. Rip has primarily focused on providing financial reporting and internal control expertise to public companies.
VP Corporate Development
Mr. Koval has over 27 years of executive management, corporate development, finance, engineering, geology and environmental expertise. Formerly, President & CEO of Northern Peru Copper and President of Pincock Allen & Holt and Northwest Mining Assoc, and has also served in various positions for mining and consulting companies including Golder Associates, BHP/Utah International, Inco, Meridian Minerals, and Inspiration Consolidated Copper. His experience ranges from mineral exploration, feasibility study and permitting, to finance, mine development, operation and closure. His recent focus has been providing management consulting support on feasibility study, finance, M&A, privatization and stock listing projects. Environmental work includes, advising mining companies and banks on environmental management, permitting and compliance, remediation and closure. He has worked extensively in both North and South America, Europe and Australia. Mr. Koval is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.Sc. Geology, and is a registered P. Geo, of Washington and North Carolina.
VP Exploration
Mr. Hathaway is responsible for the exploration management of the Company's projects in Argentina. From 2005 to 2008 he was VP Exploration for Northern Peru Copper from 2005 to 2006 for Regalito Copper and from 2004 to 2005 for Lumina Resources. Prior to 2004 he worked for Inmet Mining in Europe, Central and South America and also Australia. Mr. Hathaway holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Applied Geology from the University of Plymouth, a M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration from the University of London and obtained a P.Geo from the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario in 2004.
Director
Mr. Cory is a Senior Vice President of Investment Banking at Raymond James Ltd. (currently on long term leave). As a founding shareholder of a predecessor firm, Mr. Cory has held various senior executive positions in the investment industry since 1989 with a primary focus on providing investment banking services to the mining sector. Mr. Cory is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Sciences and an MBA in Finance and International Business.
Director
Mr. Shumka is Managing Director of Walden Management Ltd., a firm providing financial consulting services to a variety of clients. Mr. Shumka received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. From 1966 to 1979 he worked in a variety of positions in the forest industry, from 1979 to 1989 he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. and from 1989 to 2004 he headed the Forest Products Group for two Canadian investment banks. Mr. Shumka has been active in the not for profit sector and is currently the Chair of the British Columbia Arts Council
Director
Mr. Wright is a co-founder, and former Director and President and Chief Operating Officer of Pan American Silver Corp. Mr. Wright received a B.Sc. (Honours) in Applied Metallurgy from Queens University, Ontario. Mr. Wright was also the co-founder of Equinox Resources. Previously, he spent 10 years with TeckCominco where he worked at the Trail Smelter operations and later participated in the management of the feasibility studies, marketing and mine construction at the Afton, Highmont, Bull Moose and David Bell Mines.
